Sitescapes is pleased to announce that Malden Station, a multifamily/mixed use project in downtown Fullerton, has been named Multifamily Community of the Year by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

Architects Orange designed an incredible building and assembled a great team of consultants.  Sitescapes was especially honored to have been involved.    It was a privilege to work on a project where a strong theme and “out-of-the-box” creativity resulted in very striking landscape elements that complement the architecture and the lifestyle of downtown Fullerton.

Sitescapes congratulates Lennar Multifamily Living and the entire design team: Architects Orange, Hibner Design Group, Gensler and C.W. Driver Companies

Providing Smart Irrigation Technology to New Home Owners

With the reduction in the size and price of weather monitoring apparatus, the individual homeowner is now able to apply an appropriate amount of water to their planted areas without the need for constant modification of their irrigation controller.

Within many of the new housing projects Sitescapes is currently working on, such as The Enclave in Eastvale as well as Avellino and Shady Trails in Fontana (both areas notorious for their dry climates and high winds), smart irrigation controllers are being used. These controllers monitor many local factors such as evaporation, rainfall, soil type, time of year and wind speed to automatically adjust irrigation cycles to provide the correct amount of water to the plants around the residence. Wireless technology also makes these tools virtually undetectable, no longer requiring cumbersome weather stations or expensive paging systems.

These exciting tools are providing more savings and water conservation to end users of the designs that are created by Sitescapes.

James and Paula Coburn Wellness Garden Dedication

The long, anticipated dedication of the James and Paula Coburn Wellness Garden occurred on 5/21/11.

This memorial garden located in the Woodland Hills campus of the Motion Picture and Television Fund (MPTF) honors the life and work of film star James Coburn and wife Paula. The garden was designed to be a small, intimate space, promoting wellness, reflection and spirituality. The legacy of the Coburn Garden was meticulously designed, down to the smallest detail, with the strong guidance of the family as well as caretakers of the Coburn Foundation. The garden was first designed by Sitescapes several years ago to have a wood shade structure in a ying-yang pattern; however, through the Foundation’s connections, they were able to commission Kenneth Cobonpue, a famous furniture designer, to create the overhead out of synthetic wicker (similar material to outdoor patio furniture). This hands-on collaboration between designers and the foundation created a truly unique space worth experiencing.

Sitescapes has designed several other memorial gardens at the Motion Picture and Television Fund (MPTF) campus, including the Lew Wasserman Koi Pond, Katzenberg Pavilion and the Roddy McDowall Memorial Rose Garden.
